Pima County may be affected when the Arizona State Senate Judiciary Committee has a hearing on Monday, February 15, 2010 to discuss pending gun legislation.

The purpose of the Senate Bill 1168 is to remove restrictions on transportation and possession of firearms and to increase protection from local towns and cities passing restrictive ordinances against carrying or possession of firearms and to provide future protection for lawful storage of firearms, ammunition and ammunition components.

Senate Bill 1168 is being supported by the National Rifle Association which states that it is unreasonable to require citizens or visitors in Arizona to memorize of laws or possibly violate a local ordinance even when there is no criminal intent.
