With the culmination of Thanksgiving comes the busiest shopping day of the year, Black Friday. Black Friday is a time of year when people are frantically stampeding to stores to take advantage of ridiculous half-price sales and two-for-one deals. Everyone from daughters, their mothers, and their grandmothers are heading to the stores to catch up on some last minute Christmas shopping.
Guys, not so much. But they'll still head out.
Black Friday is definitely a stressful time, but it is guaranteed that there will be a large number of people shopping. Here are some proven techniques to help you find love during Black Friday:
The opinion opener - The opinion opener is even more prevalent during Black Friday since people are shopping for Christmas presents. The best part is most of the time you will actually care about an opinion a person has. Here are a couple of lines you can try out:
"Does this shirt make me look gay?"
"Is blue a good color for me?"
"Is this Taylor Swift CD worth buying?"
The key is to make the opener relevant to the environment. It's also a good way to analyze a person before going direct.
Waiting in line - Since the malls and stores will be crowded with people, you're bound to be stuck in line waiting for an available cashier. That is the perfect chance to open up an adjacent person--both of you are isolated and you have plenty to talk about.
Be a hero -The worst story I've ever heard about Black Friday is a Wal-Mart employee getting the opening doors pushed upon her and getting trampled to death by incoming shoppers. While I hope nothing to that extent happens again, do take notice of when something is clearly going wrong. Open doors for people, help them pick up stuff when they drop it, and do other chivalrous things.
Be direct - People are busy during Black Friday and are going to be more grumpy. Direct game helps you save time by focusing on people who you know are interested rather than pussyfoot with opinion openers and other indirect techniques. If you know there's someone checking you out, go direct--you two can even instantly date by shopping together, eating, or making fun of people.
Have fun - You're going to get plenty of chances if you screw up at a shopping mall. Try out new stuff, and if it doesn't work, go find a new person.
