Located near the Idaho, Washington state line is a small lake full of wildlife and hiking trails most people may not know about.
Activities at the lake include hiking, camping, swimming, fishing, picnicking and riding horses or ORVs. There is play equipment for kids and BBQ areas for cooking.
The park is maintained by Spokane County Parks and Recreation and there may be a fee of $2 a person to get into the park. Dogs are allowed to be on leashes at all times and the beach prohibits dogs.
The drive in allows sightings of deer and quail and an early morning hike could reveal some other wildlife such as moose and bear. Make noise while hiking to avoid surprising the wildlife and potentially putting yourself in harm’s way.
The trails travel back into the hills surrounding the lake offering glimpses of clear streams flowing toward the lake.
Lifeguards are now on duty and mosquitoes are at a minimum.
