Silicon Valley Duck Race & Festival

The 2010 Silicon Valley Duck Race took place Sunday June 13th at Vasona Park in Los Gatos. The race raises money for 16 local charities. Prizes included a wide variety of gift certificates, vacation packages and even a electric bike! The festival kicked off at 10 AM, with preliminary race heats at 11:30 AM and the main duck race at 1:30 PM. Activities at the festival included jump houses, free mini-soccer clinic for kids hosted by the San Jose Earthquakes, free building clinic for children hosted by Home Depot, free mini manicures and mini hair styles for kids by Snip-its - Haircuts for Kids, YSI provided some Animal Ambassadors, and Treehouse In The Glen had fun arts and crafts for kids as well.

Devin Setoguchi of the San Jose Sharks and Miss Silicon Valley, Jenna Harvey stared off the race this year. After a delay due to a false start, the crowd started to slowly chant "quack... quack... quack..." in an attempt to motivate the race to begin. As the race started, onlookers on both banks of the creek started to shift downstream to get a better view of the finish line. Young volunteers for the event scrambled with nets to try to capture the rubber ducks attempting to escape after the race completed. The race is organized and run by the Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley (JFS SV) and is an annual event in Los Gatos.

Wow, looks like fun! Great shots! I especially like the one with hundreds of little rubber duckies. :-)
