Patriotism and support for our Marines is alive and well in Eastern NC !

The proof...a fund raising event at the New Bern Golf and Country Club on Tuesday Evening that brought people from all walks of life together for one purpose...making it possible for many of these fine wounded Marines to travel home for the Holidays, or for family members to come here to be with those who cannot travel.

Hosted at the New Bern Golf and Country Club, it was an evening of great food, good conversation and above all, a chance to say thank you to a number of Marines who have been wounded in action. As they entered the crowd cheered and made them feel welcomed and appreciated.

Retired Major General Braaten, along with Steve Tyson and Jim Casti spoke briefly and explained the purpose of the evening.

The Marines that were able to attend appreciated the efforts and were happy to chat with well wishers and Veterans from earlier conflicts. Weapons and tactics may change, but it is still the people, the courage and the spirit that keep us safe.

To get a real feel for the evening, please view the video and images.

These Marines have offered up their lives so that we may enjoy a way of life that is the envy of the world. It seems fitting that we make it possible for these who have suffered wounds  to see family at this special time of the year. They nearly lost that possibility...and their families nearly lost them.
