Governor Perdue was called a back stabber at the New Bern Tea Party. There were speakers from many walks of life and a number of Veterans from several wars.

The common thread? They are not pleased with the direction the government is going.

Many spoke of loss of freedom, the current Health Care Debate and many consider themselves betrayed by Government at all levels.

Governor Perdue was criticized for her raising of taxes and unwillingness to reduce government size to match government income. One phrase heard was the idea that she has stabbed the taxpayers in the back.

The event, sponsored and co ordinated by the CCTA (Coastal Carolina Taxpayers Association), took place on Saturday afternoon at Union Point Park in New Bern. The NRA had a booth, explaining the purpose of the organization and signing up new members.

In addition to the speakers, the CCTA had literature and information about a number of issues available.

Many in the crowd had signs indicating their displeasure with big government and excessive regulation in the lives of Americans. All age groups were present, as well as occupations ranging from farms to manufacturing employees and owners and professionals.

"Taxpayers have a voice" and "Craven County has a voice" were two phrases used to describe this peaceful assembly on the banks of the Neuse river.

A fitting reminder of an earlier time when New Bern was the scene of meetings prior to the American Revolution and was the Colonial Capital.

No government is more powerful than the people...and they will not go quietly into the night, nor suffer the rule of tyrants...The people have a voice.

As someone who is about to move to New Bern I must say that I thought people had more sense than to buy the lies and misdirection of these so called Teabaggers. Where were these fake patriots when the Bush administration was taking away our freedoms and our rights? Where were they when the Bush administration took the 2 Wars off the books so that we had no idea of how much they truely cost? Where were they when our men had to search the junkyards to up-armor themselves. Where were they when the Bush admistration gave the largest tax cuts in history to the already wealthy? Where were they when the Bush admistration admitted that they spied on us without cause? Where have they been for the prior 8 years when our freedoms and rights were truely under attack - by a government that had forgotten the constitution was not just paper; and that lead us to fear everthing like frightened children - and we still do? The teabagger are simply Republican dupes who know nothing, and don't want to.
