Are we alone? Is our planet being visited by alien beings from another world? A 2008 poll conducted by Scripps Survey Research Center at Ohio University shows that 56% people believe the answer to the question of whether aliens exist to be “very likely” or “somewhat likely.” When it comes to actual visitation, the percentage is lower. So how does one go about proving the existence of aliens to a skeptical world population?
Pictures. Pictures have long been lauded as the best proof of UFO/alien visitation. Ever since the first UFOs were reported in ancient art thousands of years ago, people have striven to capture them visually in one way or another, whether in artwork or on camera. The problem is, while cameras do not lie, photographers often do. Some of the greatest hoaxes in history have used photography as a basis.
The Cottingley Fairies caused quite a stir in 1919 when two girls went public with the story that they had had seen fairies in the woods, and had the photographs to prove it. While there were always skeptics, nothing could be proven until the girls, now old women, confessed to the hoax in the early 1980s. However, both still maintained that they had seen real fairies, though.
In 1934, a photo said to show the Loch Ness Monster surfaced. This picture, dubbed the “surgeon's photo,” would become the definitive image of “Nessie.” The image of a monster's long neck and head sticking above the water was, for believers, irrefutable proof of Nessie's existence for over 60 years. This changed in an instant in 1994 with a deathbed confession by one of the men involved with faking the photo. The monster turned out to be a toy submarine with a one foot long neck attached.
Moving to video, the alien autopsy film caused quite a stir when shown to the public in a 1995 TV special. Again, people debated authenticity, but neither side could conclusively disprove the other. However, in 2006, the film's discoverer, Ray Santilli, admitted that the film itself was a largely a “recreation” of an actual film he had discovered in the early 1990s. The real film, according to Santilli, was in extremely poor condition, so he and a few others took the liberty of recreating a film he still claims to be real. Bottom line, the film shown to the public was a fake.
So, when it comes to UFO photos, past trends of fraud do not bode well. In the past, any determined hoaxer could build UFO models and then photograph them in a way to make them appear real. Today, with the advent of digital photo editing software, faking a UFO photo or video is easier than ever and does not even require a hoaxer to get up from the computer.
This is definitely not to say that all photos of supposed alien craft are fakes. Many UFO pictures have been analyzed, sometimes for decades, by the experts, who still have not found evidence of fraud. On the other hand, close examination of other photos has revealed some blatant cases of trickery.
Sometimes, the fraud is not even intentional. Upon seeing something unusual, people will be in a hurry to get pictures and may not get the best possible image. Conventional aircraft have been captured on camera at an angle that makes them appear to be something they are not. Night photos (and videos) of mysterious lights can often be explained as out of focus images of planes. Besides mis-perception, people, through talking with others, can often be led to embellish a story and recall things/details that never took place via suggestion.
In conclusion, it is a difficult task to separate fact from fiction when dealing with photos that claim to show alien space ships and, for that matter, any other unexplained phenomenon. Between real photos and intentional/unintentional hoaxes, there are a lot of possibilities out there and it often takes close examination to reveal a hoax. In the end, it is best to balance skepticism and an open mind.
As a challenge, below are two UFO photos. One of them has been analyzed over the decades numerous times by experts and has never been conclusively discredited. The other photo was quickly revealed to be a hoax. If you don't know which is which (the "real" photo is iconic in UFO circles) comment below and take a guess if you'd like. The answer will be revealed sometime next week.

one would have to think that photo number 1 is a hoax, based on it being more visible and also the photo itself is damaged.

I think the first one is the hoax, however that is maybe the trick because it is so obvious. The second photo is pretty unremarkable but who knows..
I remember this photo from an astronomy book I had as a child, it used to scare me. I think that's the one.
The second photo I am not sure of since I have never seen it. The first Photo is from the McMinnville Oregon sighting in the 1950's. This one they couldn't prove it was a hoax since they actually had another photo of the UFO in a different position over the farm. They were able to make comparisons of the two photos. Also there was a similiar sighting in France which showed almost the same exact UFO. That sighting also took place in the 50's. The McMinniville sighting remains a mystery even today.

The McMillian photograph was inspected by the NAVY optical specialist and later by Optical Physicist Bruce Maccabee. This object was large and the camera was a Polaroid hard to fake. The Trent family were farmers and well respected by their neighbors. Till they died they claimed the photographs were real.The made no money for the photos. The Navel investigation's conclusion on the photo went something like this " An extraordinary object tens of meters in diameter flew over the Tents property." A million sightings later were still debating weather they are real.

But me and my mom actually saw an UFO below us and we were sure that wasn't any planes/helicopters/balloons or anything like that. It was really close and we actually saw it just like the way in pictures.
My dad swears to have seen 3 UFOs flying at an incredible speed at night. He saw it was a bright white light too. Now he sees a LOT of F16s, and I mean A LOT but he was 100% sure it was an UFO even he doesn't even believe on alien existence one bit.
It could be anything though... But what exactly?
But what about people seeing bright white lights outside their homes and suddenly return back inside to find that somehow they "lost" 2 hours without them noticing.

For those of you who are aware aliens r here, I commend you. You are aware, most are not. I have decided it is not important to prove anything to those who are so closed minded. I have no fear of this reality. If these beings wish to destroy this planet it would be a matter of hours there would be nothing left. They have had ample time to this. So not to worry. Instead meditate and raise your consciences. To communicate with these races is good for you. No Aliens would not undermine religion or at least the concept of life after death. Drop your fears, seek those who are already aware and accept. Focus on positivity. You will start reaching your true potential. If you have a spouse a relation with those who will not listen accept their objections they are not ready. That applies to all people. Just discuss the weather or some lower level communications. If people are wrong popular opinion doesn't make it correct. Reality is only so subjective.

I thought I would check back to see what additional comments were added since I put mine on. After reviewing all that's here I would suggest to people to actually investigate the topic before commenting. The McMinniville photos are one of a handfull of UFO photographs which experts could not disprove as a hoax. If people actually read up on the history of the UFO topic they would soon find that there really is something going on and has been for many decades back to before World War II or even further. There are other unexplained incidents which occured recently but have been swept under the carpet. The Phoenix sighting in the late 90's. The 2006 O'hare Chicago airport runway sighting. Also the Stephenville Texas incident from last year. The media usually just brushes these UFO stories aside after joking about them. These incidents happened! People witnessed them. It's time to wake up and realize there is something real about this subject. Science should treat this as a serious issue.
