Artist's rendering of an impact on a planet.
The photo-op was a dud. The mission did what it set out to do, at least according to the official line from NASA. Last Friday, NASA crashed its Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) into the moon in the hope of finding water below the lunar surface. However, according to some, the NASA mission was just a cover for a mission with sinister, hidden motives . So is all of this speculation true?
Certainly not. The rumors perpetuated all over the Internet range from the plausible, though unlikely, to the truly outlandish. Here are just a few of the rumors associated with LCROSS with evidence to the contrary.
The impact could trigger a war with extraterrestrials. First thing, there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that the moon is inhabited. If the moon was populated by an alien race, why hasn't this group of aliens attacked already? The Apollo landings should have been considered an act of hostility. And for those who believe that we never went to the moon, LCROSS will be just the latest in a long list of probes that have crashed on the lunar surface.
But what about all the conspiracy theories about life on the moon? Nonsense. If there was a civilization on the moon as the theories state, why hasn't anyone on earth picked up radio signals yet? Because there are none. If there was an advanced civilization on the moon, someone would have picked up radio signals long before anyone here on Earth had the slightest desire of going to the moon and hiding the truth about it. And before arguing that the advanced civilization is on the “dark side” of the moon, what are the chances that an advanced civilization would stop spreading at exactly the right point to hide from Earth?
Wait! What about astronauts seeing UFOs? The term UFO stands for unidentified flying object and does not equate to alien space ship. By now, space is filled with all kinds of satellites and other junk. Some estimates go as high as 700 for satellites alone, depending on what is counted as a satellite. At a quick glance, almost anything could legitimately be called a UFO.
The impact will blast a crater miles wide. The largest nuclear bomb created crater on Earth is Sedan Crater, and it's only 1,280 feet wide and 320 feet deep. Even with the lower lunar gravity, a lot more force would be needed to blast a crater miles wide. If we were sending nukes into space and the rocket blew up at some point, the entire planet would eventually get a bath in radioactive fallout. It is highly doubtful that any government would be willing to risk this. After all, the U.S. would not be immune, either. Second, the Centaur rocket was empty. Neither explosives or fuel were involved..
The impact will violate international law. Yes, a UN Outer Space Treaty exists, but what it does ban is essentially the militarization of space. Launching a spent rocket into the moon is not militarizing space for the purpose of aggression. As for theMoon Treaty, it again bans usage of the moon for military purposes. Again, LCROSS hardly qualifies as a military purpose.
The impact could disrupt the moon's ecology. What ecology? The moon is a bone dry body that is being baked in a virtual vacuum. There is no ecology of the moon and such a hostile environment could not support life as we know it. Besides being bad for life, radiation striking the moon's surface from solar flares can easily fry high tech devices. In 1989, a solar flare knocked out power in Quebec, Canada, despite having to go through the Earth's protective atmosphere.
The impact could knock the moon out of its orbit and cause all kinds of havoc on Earth as a result. Yes, the moon has a stabilizing effect on the Earth. Simulations have shown that is there was no moon, the Earth could tumble wildly on its axis, creating all kinds of havoc here. However, all one needs to do is look at the moon through a small telescope, or even binoculars, to see that there is no reason to worry about LCROSS knocking the moon out of its orbit. The proof is in all the craters, the largest of which is about 20 miles wide.
LCROSS represents U.S. colonialism. Pure opinion offered by people who hate the United States. How can anything be considered colonialism when no people are being settled on the moon?
Now for some facts about the LCROSS mission. LCROSS was really a two part probe launched by NASA. The first part was a spent Centaur rocket. This rocket would crash into the moon and blast a cloud of debris into space. The LCROSS probe proper would follow about four minutes behind, analyzing the materials ejected from the moon and transmit findings back to Earth before itself too crashed into the lunar surface. Once the raw data had been sent back to Earth, scientists will analyze the findings, looking for evidence of water in the readings from LCROSS. The hope is that water will be found and that this moon water could be used by astronauts when astronauts go back to the moon in the hope of creating a permanently manned outpost.

Good article.
"If the moon was populated by an alien race, why hasn't this group of aliens attacked already?" Aliens ALREADY have us under their control: Their main weapon, PSYCHOLOGY - MIND CONTROL! The public hasn't been told that we've picked up radio signals. Aliens are smart, they can use technology we don't have! Aliens can communicate without electromagnetic waves too. You and the readers should do a Google search on "chilbolton crop circle" to see, instead of hear, what the Aliens communicated. The Aliens stay on the "dark" side of the moon EXACTLY so we won't see them clearly! Many US astronauts HAVE GONE ON RECORD saying they KNOW Aliens are real! LCROSS proves US citizens are "dumbed down!" No LCROSS explosion, no dust, no pictures, yet NASA says SUCCESS - and the American public believes! NASA says no ET, astronauts say yes, but people believe NASA! NASA says LCROSS worked like it was supposed to, ALTHOUGH IT DIDN'T DO WHAT NASA SAID IT WOULD - and you believe NASA instead of your eyes!!

I don't buy into all the conspiracy stuff that goes on in the world-wide-inter-webs, however, Carl Wolf stated that he was loaned to the lunar orbiter project at NASA at Langly Field. He said he saw images of alien bases on the "dark side of the moon." This article talks about aliens on the moon as an established and growing community like one would find on Wisteria Lane. I don't think the implication given in this article gives a fair shake to the people who are/were concerned about a potential interstellar war.
For me personally, I seriously doubt it would have caused a war even if we had proof of an alien base on the moon. For 1) I think they (aliens) would be too intelligent to see landing on our own moon, or throwing junk at the moon as a direct hostile act. and 2) If for some reason our need to throw junk at the moon interfered with something they had going on they would probably be able to intervene and stop said junk from actually hitting our moon.
that's all
The article suggests that crazy story's have emerged on the web, and they have.
Yet to claim that aliens havnt landed on the moon is insane. There maybe aliens, there maybe not. But you can't claim one or the other. unless you actually know. And you don't that i can prove.
Aliens use radio signals. LMFAO your suggesting that a race travles many light years in there ships using advanced technology and still use radio to communicate. Holyshit. Its the most dumbest idea i have ever heard.
If NASA were to show us moving videos instead of stills then maybe space would become interesting instead of boring. How come in the late 60's and early 70's, we got to see moving pictures of activities on moon? NASA only shows stills and expects us to get giddy.
2) NASA has only good intentions for America and the rest of the world. Seriously Wake up - THEY SHOT A ROCKET AT THE MOON.

I agree that rumors are getting out of control with the LCROSS. However, to ask a rhetorical question about life on the moon and refer to any such theory as "conspiracy" is to resort to hyperbole, which is unnecessary as well as inaccurate. A "conspiracy," as Webster Defines it is a secret agreement between two or more people to perform an unlawful act.
It's common to call something a "conspiracy theory" to eliminate credibility without actually doing any work. In the future, you should omit this word in order to increase your professional tone. Other than that, pretty good article.
Good article. Where is the dust plume 6 miles high?
dont we have enough issues to deal with on our own planet ?? this insults humanity.. there was 79 MIILLION spent on that bull??? and why is it so important that we get to the moon anyways ?? in case we blow ourselves up and so all the wealthy douche bags can live there ? everything is corrpupt.. EVERYTHING. www.esoterictube.com.
This article IS NOT "good", it is skeptically biased BS. Yes UFO means unidentified, but its also the way the object behaves or moves. Satellites and space junk do not zig-zag or change direction. Also you not not say w/ scientific certainty that there is no evidence of life, past or present, because the evidence of life microscopic or deep below the surface. Why hasn't the alien civilzation attacked us yet? Well, who said they have to attack, who said they have to be hostile toward earthlings ? Most of this article is not FACTS, but the writers own opinions and perceptions.
This article sounds like a direct P.R. spin financed by NASA themselves. If NASA would simply take the time to get a census before striking the Moon people wouldn't feel so betrayed by the very organization they have come to trust. If NASA doesnt want us to know about the Nephilim (Aliens) on the far side of the Moon and its obvious they are there with the recent discoveries presented in a film called, "Moon Rising" found on youtube, they need to atleast make the people of Earth feel safe from the very experiments they intend to conduct. People dont like to be surprised to find out the day of that the Moon is being bombed by NASA...
I work for NASA and all I can say is get a life you wacked out weirdos. The stuff you get worked up about always gets laughs when we post it in break rooms...etc. Losers!
Edgar Mitchell said "Aliens have visited Earth" on UK Radio.
Anf Josh has no friends.lol
If money is involved....you can bet there is corruption. NASA's own staff have come forward under oath admitting to lying to the public and coverups.
As for Josh who works for NASA....well you just like all of us are just a mere mortal!
hmmmm...
all this talk about conspiracy theories.. aliens, do they exist or not? I don't know.. and neither does NASA or anyone else for that matter.. UFOs? can be explained at times, can't be explained many other times..
HOWEVER, someone named bobby mentioned that this is biased BS.. haha.. I wouldn't go that far, but I gotta admit.. the article DOES seem rather lop-sided and "pro-NASA".. and like what SeekingTreasures said, NASA claimed certain things that never did happen and what the public saw was evident to that.. now, if NASA had played it down after that instead of claiming that what it had set out to do had been accomplished (or anything along those lines), maybe people wouldn't be so suspicious.. but,.... they just had to..
aliens on the dark side of the moon.. good point someone else made.. putting aside the fact of whether or not there ARE aliens there, WHY is it that they gotta attack us first? just because we humans have an ugly history of war and battles?? ;)
First off, no one has conclusively figured out how the moon even GOT there in the first place. Two, scientific studies have proven the moon is older than the earth. Three, Buzz Aldrin claims we "were warned off." Ok, that's just a former astronaut saying that. Four, why didn't we set up a base a long time ago? Ever since Apollo 11 the missions have gotten less and less ambitious. Five, if you're going to question whether aliens exist on the moon or not, at least drop the pretentious "radio" theory. IF aliens or EBE's existed i'm pretty sure they are advanced well beyond that.
Whether or not Aliens exist, if you leave out the UFO/Alien Phenomena you're missing a BIG piece of the puzzle.
Naïve analysis.
There are men far more knowledgeable on the subject of NASA (both inside and outside of the program) who have gone on record about an ET presence on the moon (not necessarily living there, but visiting it).
For example, this testimonial comes to mind:
youtube.com/watch?v=R6QNzH4x1rY
I laugh every time I hear someone talking about aliens speaking On the contrary I've never heard ENYONE ever say aliens comunicate thru speaking any so far that sey they had contact with aliens say it's thru telepathy (no need for radios)And if another civilazation flew something into this planet on purpose I'm sure we would consider it an aggressive act.We have no idea what our military knows about the moon and bases on it Becouse we have no need to know. And how do we know what effect this had on the balance of space.Looking at other planets that had collisions with objects has had a large effect on them including earth. Don't they believe something like that caused the dinosaurs to become extinct. It's bad enough that we blow things up on earth all the time and now we gotta do it on other planets. Don't be so foolish.
I find not only your research but your opinion to be an exceedingly naïve.
Crazy. The only conspiracy is that, it doesn't really take so long to get some spectrographic data. NASA likes to sit on information I helped pay for. I remember when they classified data about the martian microbe meteorite! Ooh, it's too crazy risky to reveal that data to the public, apparently. I guess it might impact national security if they find a motherlode of H2O. Or else they are just still infected by the Bush idiocy on all levels.
Josh -
I looked up the moon last weekend, on one of those sunny days when yuu could both the sun and moon - a halfer, really. Taking a good look, I occasionally couldnt help but think it looked a bigger than usual.
I agree all this crap about mentals from space (other than us) living on the moon is rubbish. But science, esp.
if done by contractors, always does these blasted things;
going on with a cheap bidder for a public thrill.
The question, and I`m no scitenist, is whether/not that
so-called "moon bomb" would have any effects on its orbit, or earth. I do not entertain sucj ideas because I have 2 sit through dusaster films.
A post I read once said, "NASA bombs moon"; Dec. 2012
moon crashes into earth. Garbage I say, but if so,
and this planet is cleaved in two before I``m gone, well, I wish I could say it was nice knowing you. Apolgies for the sudden insult.
Whomever wrote that article is someone trying very hard to sound like they know what they're talking about. But to anyone with common sense.....you just sound stupid
