According to Visit Dallas, “Vivero Boxing Gym is like a little pocket of light in a shadowy room. After spending several days in the gym, Kate Mefford, photographer of this exhibition, was incredibly inspired by its mission to keep local (Oak Cliff) youth engaged and focused after school and on weekends.” The Vivero Boxing Gym has filled the need of a safe place to stay active and learn a skill for the Oak Cliff youth in a creative way. The photographs reflect how dedication to today’s youth can give them the opportunity to see themselves as meaningful participants of their community. Be inspired as you enjoy the result of this photographer’s amazement.
