28, 28, 28, 28, 28!!!
Welcome to February, also known as the shortest (and coldest) month of the year! In the midst of this freeze-fest, I've had a lot of time to think how small acts of kindness affect me and those around me. In the past few weeks, I've experienced people, both strangers and friends, helping me out with everything from carrying a box to finding a job. And, none of it has gone unnoticed or felt. These small acts have inspired me to pass the same feeling to others on a more consistent basis.
So, I've challenged myself to do at least one act of kindness a day. I want to challenge you to do the same! This is the shortest month of the year, and we're all capable of being nice for 28 straight days. Right? Now, if for some reason, you think that this could be too hard or you're too busy...Consider this. Acts of kindness can be anything you want them to be, and best of all they don't have to cost you anything!
There are three things that I plan to do everyday:
- Always say "Please" and "Thank You"
- Take all of my loose change for the month and donate it to a children's charity
- Say "Good Morning" to my neighbors on the elevator
Any other acts will probably just come to me as I go. Case in point, during tonight's Super Bowl party, I will offer to refill someone's drink. Okay, okay...That may sound like a goofball idea, but you get my drift.
The only rule is that the acts of kindness be meaningful both to you and the other party. If you're having trouble thinking of ideas, never fear! I have you covered. I will be posting ideas everyday on my blog, The Fabulous Giver, and reporting on how well I'm doing! If you want to join me, leave me a comment with your goals and be sure to follow along!
