Stray Rescue of St. Louis - some of the wonderful pets available for adoption

I have so much respect for Randy Grim and the shelter he has built, with the help of the community and volunteers over the years in the St. Louis area.  These great people rescue animals that would otherwise fall throught the cracks of society, suffering terrible deaths.  Randy and his staff, sometimes at personal risk, fight for these animals 24/7.  Here are just some of the animals at their shelter.  These people do a wonderful job.  Please consider them when you are thinking of adopting, fostering, or donating.  Check back often as i usually feature their events  and pets once a week.

Stray Rescue's sole purpose is to rescue stray animals in need of medical attention, restore them to health, and place them in loving adoptive homes. Virtually all of the pets we save have been abused and neglected. They've been dumped on highways, or remote country roads. Abandoned in public parks, empty houses and dark alleys. We've even saved dogs left chained behind buildings after their owners had moved away.
Rescued animals often make the best pets. As a no-kill organization, pets from Stray Rescue seem to understand that they have a second lease on life. In return for a little affection and attention, these remarkable animals reward their new owners with a love and loyalty unmatched anywhere.

Lucky Lady was originally adopted from Stray Rescue in 2009 but returned recently through no fault of her own. She is house trained and crate trained. Sometimes Lucky Lady can not overcome her hound instincts so it would be best if she was supervised when outside in the yard. Lucky Lady enjoys just hanging out with her foster dog friends and her foster family. She knows sit and "kennel up" to go in her crate and enjoys getting treats for being a good girl. She has those typical bloodhound sad eyes, but wags her tail a lot to let you know she really is happy. She is uninterested in the cats in her foster home. Could you be the family to make her tail wag forever? If you are looking for a laid back girl who just wants to hang out, fill out an application and you can meet tail waggin' Lucky Lady.

Named after the St Louis City Police Officer that rescued her, Angela came to Stray Rescue after she was found wandering the streets at night in traffic. Her black color made it difficult for cars to see her. With the officers quick thinking, she grabbed a couple of cans of dog food and some Rice Krispie's treats. Being so hungry, Angela gobbled it all down and was eager to follow the officer to safety. Now off the streets and in a foster home, Angela is a love bug that's making up for lost time. Clearly someone's pet at one time, she already knows how to sit and is house broken. Though skin and bones when rescued, she quickly gained weight in one spot....her tummy. And 4 weeks later she gave birth to 11 puppies of which 6 survived. Angela was a phenomenal mom who took excellent care of her babies. You can see her puppies on the website as part of the "With Six You Get Egg Roll" gang. Angela is a sweetheart who is eager to please and eager to learn. Angela's love bank is never full as she loves to be petted and praised. She is also more than happy to lay next to you or at your feet. Angela is up to date on her shots and will be available for adoption in the coming weeks once she's been spayed. Angela will make an incredible addition to a family. Could it be yours? Please fill out one of the online applications and find out.

Julio is quite the character and has a ton of personality! He is very vocal, loves attention and enjoys wrestling with his foster brother, Harry (also available for adoption). He has a cute look about him and most of the time his tongue is sticking out...it is quite endearing. Once you meet him, you will fall in love. He is not scared of anything...has no fear of dogs, cats or people. He loves to play with fluffy toys, toys on strings, bouncy toys... he just loves to play. Julio is declawed and litter box trained. He does have allergies but they don't seem to cause any discomfort, he is just missing hair around his eyes and chin. If you would like to meet Julio, please complete an application and his foster mom will be in touch.
**Please note Julio is in a foster home and not at the shelter.
