Picture by~F. Mallon "How do you like the backrub? Does it feel good? Woof, it's great."

We have the winners to the “Pet Pages” photo contest #29. Congratulations to each and every one of you. Here is what we all have been waiting for, the results.

1st Place – “How do you like the backrub? Does it feel good? Woof, it’s great.” This picture was sent in by F. Mallon. This is what she had to say about the picture, “Evanlake Nowhere Man, CGC, TDI, “Newman”. Rock Dog Patron St. v.Sanftenloewen, CGC, “LeGrain”. St. Rock is the patron saint of dogs and dog lovers. LeGrain is a leonberger puppy. He was 5 months old in the beach picture, with his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel brother “Newman” (Evanlake Nowhere Man, CGC, TDI). LeGrain passed his CGC at only 7 months of age and has been a teaching dog in the Camden County College Veterinary Technology program since the age of 4 months. He is extremely good natured and gentle. He loves the students and especially likes to lick their ears. He is obsessed by ice cubes and is trying his best to learn to operate the automatic ice maker on the refrigerator. At 9 months of age he is 117 lbs and still growing. He adores his brother “Newman” and allows him to climb all over him, lick his face, lick his ears, and steal his treats. Newman is a 3 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He passed his CGC and TDI only 4 days after his first birthday. He visits many hospitals, nursing homes, and schools and he too has been a teaching dog in the Veterinary Technology program since the age of 4 months. He is patient, kind, loving and loyal. He has stolen my heart. The wonderful picture of Newman sitting on LeGrain on the beach was taken by Cal Sampson of Still Motion Photography in Cape May Courthouse, NJ. It really captures the fun nature of Newman and the calm and patient nature of LeGrain. That picture always makes me laugh.”
Thanks for sending such an adorable picture. I just loved seeing them looking so cute. This photo won 43% of the votes.

Picture by~P. Menkie "Hey is this for me? Can I help to open it? I wanna help you guys"

2nd Place – “Hey is this for me? Can I help to open it? I wanna help you guys.” This picture was sent in by P. Menkie. This is what she had to say about the picture, “We adopted Oscar in July 17, 2004 from the Gettysburg Shelter in Gettysburg, PA. The shelter thought he was about 6 1/2 years old. Oscar was at the shelter for over a month as they were treating him for a very bad yeast infection on his skin that resulted in hair loss to the rear half of his body. He was just starting to regrow the hair when we spotted him at the shelter and we knew this wonderful loving dog needed to be part of our family. In the 6 years that Oscar has been with us, one thing we know for sure... Oscar is a very helpful little boy as is evident in the picture of him trying to help our grandson open his Christmas present. We were very lucky when Oscar agreed to come live with my husband and I.”
Thanks for sending such a cute photo. I just loved seeing Oscar trying to help with the present. This photo came in with 30% of the votes.

Photo by~F. Mallon "Life is great, running on the beach and my tongue out. Life is Great"

3rd Place – “Life is great, running on the beach and my tongue out. Life is Great” This picture was sent in by F. Mallon. This is what she had to say about the picture, “Bonacres Quaker’s Zane Gold CGC, TDI, “Zane”, December 31, 1997-August 13, 2009 Zane was a wonderful dog, with the perfect golden retriever personality and my constant companion. He would follow me everywhere and traveled with me on vacations, dog shows, and weddings all over the country. I trusted him in all situations, I never once heard him growl. Even when other dogs would growl at him and bear teeth, he did not react. When my golden Galligan died in 1999 of lymphoma, Zane licked Galligan’s collar and tags for 30 minutes when I returned from the hospital without his pal. He loved to be a teaching dog in the Veterinary Technology program at Camden County College. All I would have to say is, “Do you want to go to school?” He would immediately start to dance (spin in circles), he loved the students and was wonderful with them, so patient. Zane was with me through my Mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis and her death, the death of my Father 6 years later to pulmonary fibrosis, and then a year later the death of my leonberger McCabe. Zane was also a therapy dog and visited many nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and would dance for everyone’s delight. Zane too was diagnosed with lymphoma (just as his pal Galligan had been 10 years prior) in March 2009. He underwent chemotherapy every week for 6 months and never once complained. He did well until the last few weeks, and then I had to say “goodbye” to my faithful companion. I am sure my parents are caring for him now. I miss him terribly each day. The wonderful picture of him running on the beach was taken only 5 months before his lymphoma by Cal Sampson of Still Motion Photography in Cape May Court House, NJ. I treasure his happy face in this picture always." Thanks for sending in such a great shot. He was a very beautiful fur-baby. In his loving memory. This photo came in with 24% of the votes.
