Saturday’s Pet-A-Palooza had many success stories. One of which was Jiggy, a 19 month old greyhound born on July 31, 2008. Jiggy came to Las Vegas at 17 months old, an early age for a retired racing dog. Most dogs race until they are between two and five years old and are then available for adoption. Though Jiggy (or Bella Lengai as she is registered under) is a perfect greyhound; a beautiful dog with long legs and puppy exuberance, she wasn’t a fan of running the track in her ‘schooling’ races. She was retired early and picked up for adoption from the greyhound racing track in Caliente, Mexico.
Jiggy was placed into foster care with Greyhound Pets of America Las Vegas. Fostering is a great way to learn more about a dog’s personality so the perfect family can be matched. Her foster parents found that she was extremely calm and both cat and small dog safe. Now, they just needed to find her a home...
Enter Las Vegas resident Diane, along with her twins, Paige and Joey. The family welcomed Jiggy into their lives this weekend. Jiggy will be sharing her new home with two other dogs, an older greyhound sibling and an Italian greyhound sibling.
There are still many retired racing greyhounds that need homes. If you are interested in adopting a greyhound, please contact Greyhound Pets of America Las Vegas at (702)392-5822 or visit them online at www.gpalv.com
