Cole, three legged dog gets his doggie wheels and a forever home

Top honors definitely go to Kim Dudek and Ally Kirk for spearheading “Operation Cole”. When Emily Roberson  contacted Kim and Ally about doggie wheelchairs, all she was hoping for was advice really. But Kim went above and beyond by saying that she would pay not only for Cole's vet care, but also would fly him to live with her at her canine rehab facility Dag's House.

Ally was with Emily every step of the way giving her advice, telling her who to contact, and doing lots of fundraising and leg work. Michelle Ingram of Zeus' Place http://michelle.ingram.googlepages.com/home also helped with fundraising and photography/videography, and Lori at Doggon' Wheels http://www.doggon.com/ offered to donate a doggie wheelchair (shipping too).

Emily Roberson did dog rescue for 7 years in New Orleans before I moved to Honolulu about 7 months ago. She knew Kim, Ally, and Michelle through the animal rescue community in New Orleans. Dag's House is named after Kim's dog Dag, who she rescued after Hurricane Katrina when he had been hit by a car. Dag needed back surgery and was partially paralyzed, but through years of intensive rehab can now walk again. You can read all about Dag on the Dag's House website.

I would also like to acknowledge Dr. Lau and all of the staff of Kalihi Pet Clinic here in Honolulu for readying Cole for travel to Louisiana.

Michelle was nice enough to document every step of his arrival, which can be found here:

Cole’s video and plea for help was created by Liz Rizzo, Honolulu Pets Examiner  prior to his surgery and rehabilitation. The link below is to the original column:

Cole is a great dog, who is going to have an amazing life at Dag's House. I simple cannot thank everyone who helped us along the way enough.

Michelle took these videos of Cole's first time walking since his accident:
