Bo the new dog in the White House

Honolulu Pets Examiner

President Obama and his family have added a new addition to their family. “Bo” the Portuguese Water Dog (PWD) is a very cute dog, but I want to add a caution about the breed in general. This is not the breed for everyone. Bo is the focus of the nation and folks will want to own one of these wonderful dogs because they look so adorable. Please, before you consider adopting a PWD, get all the facts so you can make an informed decision that will be in the best interest of the dog and its ultimate happiness. These dogs need a job. They need something to do with their time besides lying around the yard. They are not the kind of breed that will be happy being left in the back yard or home alone. You may want to consider any special health issues of the breed. Contact the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America for more information on this incredible breed of dogs. You can also obtain reputable breeders who adhere to a code of ethics. Chuck Teasley is the Vice President of the Portuguese Water Dog Club and is ad advocate for people to get educated about PWD’s before making the decision to own one. Thanks to the Associated Press for the great photo of Bo shown here.
