Advertisements, commercials and local animal shelters across Colorado emphasize the importance of ‘thinking adoption first.’ With organizations such as the Dumb Friends League, Max Fund and PetSmart Adoptions, it couldn’t be easier to find a new furry family member.
While these options are great for adopting an adult dog, one can’t deny the appeal of owning a puppy. Luckily, you can have the best of both worlds: adopting a dog in need, and enjoying the experience of raising a puppy. Colorado is home to the Colorado Puppy Rescue, an organization that focuses on adopting out shelter puppies in need of a good home.
Based in the Denver metro area, Colorado Puppy Rescue specializes in gathering puppies from rural shelters and rescuers in Colorado and surrounding states that do not have the funds or manpower to provide proper care for young dogs. Puppies that end up in shelters that are overpopulated or underfunded are often euthanized. It is Colorado Puppy Rescue’s mission to prevent unnecessary euthanasia and find loving homes for every single puppy.
CPR is unique in that it does not have a shelter location. Rather, all of the puppies are placed into experienced foster homes before being adopted out. This provides an opportunity for these puppies to be socialized in a loving home and provides potential adopters with detailed profiles. Each puppy is administered up-to-date vaccinations, and is given a clean bill of health before being put up for adoption.
Adoption Event Location:
PetCo (Main Entrance Adoptions Center)
4100 East Mexico Ave. Denver, CO

I have adopted two of my three dogs from the Colorado Puppy Rescue, and they are all amazing. The foster parents were not only helpful in providing information about the pups, but seemed to really care about the animals.
I have not had any health issues with the dogs, and they have turned out to be amazing additions to the family. Thanks for article, this really is a wonderful organization.
I am adopter, a foster parent and I volunteer every week at events! I love all my rolls with Colorado Puppy Rescue! The article was AWESOME. I would recommend CPR to anyone who wants to add a puppy to their lives.
I was thinking of getting a puppy, but did not give much thought as to where I would look. Now I know I will be going to a CPR event when I do. Thank you
I have volunteered and fostered for CPR and they are great! The puppies are loved and cared for by the fosters before adoption and knowing a little about their personality before adoption is wonderful.
If you want to provide a forever home to a homeless puppy, Colorado Puppy Rescue is the place to go!
I am a long time volunteer and foster for Colorado Puppy Rescue and I can attest that the directors are in it for the right reasons and on many occasion have witnessed special situations that made me see how much they truly care about the puppies they have rescued. They treat volunteers and fosters like friends and have been a joy to work with.
