In 2008, San Diego was voted one of America's most dog friendly cities. But as a San Diegan, are you familiar with all the dog friendly spots?
Restaurants and Bars
San Diego is brimming with dog friendly restaurants, where you can grab a bite with your four legged friend. We have sampled the cuisine at several dog friendly venues and atop are list are:
Nicky Rottens - Located at 560 5th Avenue, this restaurant features burgers that are to die for and a fabulous happy hour. Dogs are welcome on the patio and the staff is incredibly dog friendly.
Oggi's - Oggi's Mission Valley and Oggi's Santee both feature a spacious dog friendly patio with TV's for you to watch your favorite game. They have a great menu, featuring gourmet pizzas and calzones. Try the southwestern ravioli - a favorite of our staff!
Point Loma Sports Pub and Grill - Featuring thirty cent wing night and a spacious dog friendly patio, this tops the list as our favorite Point Loma restaurant that caters to four leggers. The food is fabulous and very reasonably priced and the patio is almost entirely fenced making it a safe choice for you and Fido!
Wine Steals - Want to head out for happy hour with your pooch? Check out Wine Steals Hillcrest or Point Loma. Both locations feature a great dog friendly patio and a large selection of wines and artisan cheeses sure to suit any palate.
Outdoor Recreation
There is so much to do in San Diego - from hiking to a day at the beach, San Diego has it all. Why leave Fido at home if you can bring him along on your outdoor adventure? Here is a list of our favorite outdoor activities that are, of course, Fido friendly!
Fiesta Island - Located east of Sea World, fiesta island is completely dog friendly. Whether you want to just take a walk along the sand, have a bonfire with friends, or visit the fenced off leash area, Fiesta Island has it all. Take advantage of this beautiful San Diego weather and bring your pooch down for a day of fun in the sun.
Off Leash Dog Parks - San Diego also features a vast variety of off leash parks designed specifically for your pup. Make sure your pooch has a reliable recall and is social with other dogs before venturing out to one of these fido friendly parks!
Dog Beaches - The weather in San Diego is gorgeous. Why not take a trip down to one of our beautiful beaches and enjoy the surf and sand? San Diego features a number of dog friendly beaches so you can take your pooch along for a day at the beach!
Hiking Trails - Are you an avid outdoorsman? Getting out for a hike with your four legged pal is a great way for you to exercise together. Just make sure to bring plenty of water for you and your pooch so you don't get dehydrated. Make sure you are familiar with the signs of dehydration in dogs and make sure you have a first aid kit at all times just in case something were to happen.
