ADOPT by Shepard Fairey
This past Thursday, Shepard Fairey, the artist who created the Barack Obama “HOPE” poster, unveiled his latest image, “ADOPT”. Done in the same style as the “HOPE” image, “ADOPT” features Benji-like mutt and will serve as the centerpiece to its own campaign--to promote awareness about the importance of adopting rescued pets.
The image was created for the non-profit group, Adopt-a-pet.com. The dog is modeled after “Honey” a mutt Fairey had as a kid. The idea to model the image after the Obama “HOPE” poster came out of the President Elect’s desire to adopt a shelter dog and his comment that “Most shelter dogs are mutts like me.”
The image is downloadable for free from Adopt-a-Pet.com’s “Mutts Like Me” campaign site for anyone who would like to print and share it or add it to their website or blog. There is also limited edition run of 400 signed and numbered silk-screen prints available for purchase through Adopt-A-Pet.com as well, and proceeds will benefit rescue pets.
So go to the site and download the image--print it and post it and spread the word about a adopting pets. Here’s to hope and change for shelter pets waiting for homes!

Great story! It's really great that he helped out such a worthy cause. I did an interview recently for Examiner.com Boston since his exhibition is opening here next month. Check it out!
