Little Leela has big medical bills
Casa de los Gatos, the largest no-kill cat shelter in Arizona, is hosting Catapalooza at the Tanque Verde shelter property, 10700 East Tanque Verde Road (just east of Houghton Road) in Tucson on October 3 and 4, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Catapalooza will feature more than 25 vendors, along with artists and musicians, craft booths, face painting, handmade items, pottery, plants, jewelry, food, and of course, adoptable rescue kitties!
A silent auction will be held to help with the cost of hundreds of cats and several dogs rescued by the no-kill shelter. Along with items donated by volunteers and supporters of Casa de los Gatos, nearly every vendor has donated an item for auction.
Several members of the University of Arizona Pre-Veterinary Club will be on hand to answer questions, and help with various tasks as needed. There will be a variety of animal-loving musicians for entertainment, and raffle prize drawings will be held throughout the day.
There will be an eclectic mix of vendors, many with animal-related items - cat habs, dog and cat treats, leashes, collars, collar charms, dog hats, dog/cat mats, beds, safety flashers, animal shaped doorbells, bird feeders and houses (kitty entertainment), catnip pillows, toys, and a wide assortment of animal-related jewelry.
One vendor will be selling her Tupperware specifically for Leela's medical costs. Leela is a 14-week-old kitten who recently developed pneumonia. When she began having difficulty breathing, she had to go to a clinic for oxygen treatment - at a cost of about $400 per day.
Come to Catapalooza for great fun, food, and entertainment - and help the volunteers and supporters of the largest no-kill cat shelter in Arizona continue their wonderful rescue work. Who knows? Perhaps your heart will be stolen by a rescue kitty!
