America’s number one conservative talk-radio host, Rush Limbaugh has a soft spot for pets. The normally “tough as nails” radio personality surprised everyone when he announced that he would be supporting the Humane Society of the United States with a series of Public Service Announcements that address animal cruelty.
Wayne Pacelle, executive director of HSUS shared in his blog that Rush Limbaugh treasures his cat named Punkin and because of this bond he has given serious thought to “our moral obligations to animals.”
So Limbaugh researched the work HSUS is doing to fight animal cruelty and agreed to speak on behalf of the organization in a series of powerful Public Service Announcements. The first one expresses Limbaugh’s personal concern for animals.
“If anybody harmed Punkin they would be punished by me. There has to be a price for animal cruelty. They cannot be left without defenders.”
The HSUS stated that it welcomed Limbaugh to the animal protection movement.
“Animal protection should never confine itself to the Left or the Right in American politics. The animals need skilled advocates, and the cause deserves the widest audience.”

Come on Limbaugh, don't you know the Humane sociaity is the largest anti-hunting movement in the USA. Cut your ties with them or lose a large fan base.
I agree with the protection of domestic animals and even the animals that face slaughter. However, their anti hunting stance has stopped me from giving money to an otherwise decent group. I feel strongly about this and feel that Rush jumped the gun. No Pun intended. If they give up their anti-hunting stance I would stand behind them 100%. Just because a cow or pig is going to be slaughtered for meat is no reason to mistreat them. I am not able to give them money as their stance on hunting is something that I will not stand for.
It's a pity that Rush hasn't taken the time to educate himself on the true facts and ultimate goal of both HSUS and PeTA - the total eradication of companion animals, service animals, animals that benefit the human in any way, shape or form. Come on Rush ... you really failed us!
I always thought Rush was a bright man. To bad he did not do his home work on HSUS and PETA. They are not only out to eradicate pets but make a BIG BUCK in the process. And it is at the expense of "Breeders" and other animal lovers as well as the general public. WAKE UP RUSH. WAKE UP AMERICA. One more RIGHT taken away?
have always listened to rush limbaugh, no more. he has joined the left on animal rights. hsus sells propaganda.
I like cats too. they taste like frog legs
WOW what a blow to the stomach. When Rush says that " 60 % of the dogs found in shelters are comming from breeders" HE IS VERY VERY MISINFORMED and I dont think he is thinking with his head just his heart and warm fuzzies. I am a avid Rush fan, he is still my hero. I am praying that he will begin to see that HSUS and PETA are sleeping in the same bed, both belive that ALL animals should never be owned and if they get their way there will be no more breeding of domestic animals, thus no more pet ownership and FINALL no more FUTURE PUMKINS!
Killing animals is not "sport". Animals can be killed for food or the defensive of human life or property. Killing for "sport" is sick and pathetic, performed by men with small dicks..
Carrie, you say the SPCA is wrong about the percentage of animals in shelters that originate from breeders. They can prove it. You can't, just make unsupported claims. Are you a liar or can you back up your mouth. Just look at the "puppy mills", the inbred diseases and physical defects of "purebred" animals. Breeders are all about money and high volume breeding. You probably are one.
HSUS (The Humane Society of the United States) is nothing more than a domestic terrorist group extorting money out of people thinking donations are going to the cute dogs and cats they plaster all over their fund raising mailers. HSUS and Wayne Pacelle only want a vegan America with no pets, period. Look at their 2007 IRS tax returns posted on their site. They spent more on staff travel expenses than local humane societies, shelters, animal rescues, etc. Less than 4 cents of every donation dollar goes to hands-on animal care. Get the facts, look at their tax return (posted on their web site), and then decide where your money should be donated if you want to help animals. Bad Rush, I believe you made a deal with the devil.
Rush L. has no clue what he is doing. I was a fan but no more. What the heck is wrong with people?
