London - Louise Campbell, the manager of the Shrewsbury Dogs Trust wasn't having much luck finding homes for two resident Great Danes - one blind Great Dane and the other one her "seeing eye dog." Their owner had surrendered the dogs because they were just too much work caring for the dogs.
So Campbell decided to reach out to the public and began a public appeal. Since then over 200 possible candidates have contacted Campbell about the dogs named Lily and Maddison.
Six-year-old Lily had a rare case of entropion - a condition where her eyelashes grew into her eyeballs damaging her eyes to the extent they had to be removed. Her companion dog, seven-year-old Maddison bonded with Lily and provides the eyes that Lily lost. According to Campbell, the dogs check with each other all the time.
It is truly an expression of canine devotion - bringing all of us to the realization of how animals have so much to offer and so much emotion and wisdom most humans do not recognize.
We all sincerely hope that Lily and Maddison find the wonderful home they so deserve.
