The popularity of hybrid dogs breeds has produced some wonderful new companions for humans, and some that can leave a dog lover scratching their head wondering "what were they thinking" when breeds were combined. One hybrid breed that definitely falls into the former category is the Bea Griffon, a lovable small dog that is gaining in popularity very quickly. The Bea Griffon is a hybrid breed mixing the attributes of a Beagle with those of a Brussels Griffon, and the result is an amazingly attractive animal that makes for an outstanding pet.

Originally from Afghanistan, the Bea Griffon stands between 8 to 15 inches in height and normally weighs 12 to 24 pounds. Possessing a short coat, the Bea Griffon can either have soft or course hair, dependent upon which breed's dominant genetic trait is present. The color patterns of the Bea Griffon can be red and white, orange and white, black and red, black and tan or tricolor. These color variations make for a vast array of diverse appearances, and allows for a unique look that is not present in pure breed dogs.

The Bea Griffon has a pleasant character that is lively and energetic, with above-average intelligence. Perhaps the most attractive personality traits of the Bea Griffon are their ability to display affection and serve as a loyal and faithful companion. These dogs also normally get along very well with other pets and are very tolerant of the transgressions of children. While mainly considered an inside dog, the Bea Griffon enjoys the outdoors and is actually quite athletic and physically strong for it's size.

Potential owners of the Bea Griffon will soon discover that they are relatively easy to care for, requiring only normal food, grooming and exercise. Given their intelligence and acumen for learning, the Bea Griffon responds well to training attempts and is very adept at grasping new concepts. The life expectancy of this dog breed is about average, with ages reaching 12 to 15 years common.

From an objective overview, the Bea Griffon is about as good as it gets in not only a hybrid breed of dog but in any dog in general. While not a working dog or a fierce guard dog, the Bea Griffon represents a pet that is without a downside in terms of personality, health or companionship. Any individual searching for a smaller dog as a family pet cannot go wrong in selecting the Bea Griffon.
