If you own small dogs and live in a high rise with a balcony, the Puppy Bumper is for you.
We often hear of small dogs pushing through the rails of a balcony, deck or fence and being injured or killed. The Puppy Bumper has created a means of allowing small dogs to enjoy the outdoors without risking their lives.
City dwellers enjoy pet ownership as much as those who live in the suburbs or country. However, due to space constraints there are more smaller pets in the city than elsewhere. These precious little dogs are generally fine within a condominium or apartment but still need to experience the sunshine that a balcony or deck offers. Often, the little dog is small enough to slip through the railings making their outside experiences dangerous. It takes a mere moment for the dog to see something that triggers its prey drive. For those with fenced pool areas, the Puppy Bumper is a means of preventing small dogs from having access to the dangerous area.
Another possible use for this product is as means of preventing a dog from chewing on itself. While many dogs have to wear uncomfortable and cumbersome Elizabethan collars when healing from an injury, the Puppy Bumper can offer a more comfortable and convenient means of achieving this for the most part, depending on where the dog needs to avoid. (If the dog is not to touch it's feet than the Puppy Bumper won't work for this purpose.)
The product is manufactured domestically, in Farmville, VA, by STEPS (Southside training employment and placement services), a company that employs those who are disabled or have experienced economic barriers. Moreover, a portion of each sale is donated to ASK, an organization that helps families of children who have cancer.
Puppy Bumpers attach to the dog's collar with soft loops and the cotton covered stuffed collar is comfortable for the dog. As it feels similar to a regular collar, few dogs will fuss about wearing it. For fashion-minded pet owners, the bumpers come in a variety of pleasing patterns and colors. There are 3 sizes that fit from under a 7" neck to 13" neck circumference. They retail for $19.95 and are currently only available through the manufacturers' website www.puppybumpers.com.
