Bob-A-Lot, a Triple Crown jewel

Triple Crown Academy's subisdiary, StarMark Pet Products, is quickly becomng a benchmark for creating interactive dog toys that are safe, interesting, and indestructible.

The new Bob-a-Lot interactive treat/food dispensing toy ranks very high on the list of being both enticing and fun for dogs.

Why interactive toys instead of a stuffed toy or bone? Because boredom creates more behavioral problems in dogs than any other situation. A bored dog will dig, chew and develop anxiety. With the advent of interactive dog toys, such as the Bob-A-Lot, dogs now have an outlet for their hunting drive and energy. The Bob-A-Lot can be filled with up to 3 cups of kibble and has two settings for dispensing of the food. Moreover, it works well for dogs of all sizes. It has a weighted non-slip base that, when pushed at, wobbles. In turn, the movement entices the dog into play while he also strives to get the food inside.

If a dog is fed a dry diet entire meals can be placed inside the Bob-a-Lot so that the dog is actually burning calories as he eats for he has to work and play to get the kibble to come out. For most dogs this is far more entertaining than scratching at a door, tearing up pillows or chewing a chair. Tastes better, too! For dogs who eat too quickly the Bob-a-Lot will slow them down as the dog can only eat a kibble, or two, at a time reducing the risk of bloat.

One of the main differences between the Bob-A-Lot and other interactive toys, such as the Buster Cube and treat-dispensing balls is that the Bob-A-Lot does not drop kibble out as easily , but yet is easy to fill with a top that easily unscrews. However, as with the hard plastic Buster Cube, this isn't the best toy to have on hard flooring as the dog pushes it around or drops it. The softer sided Everlasting Treat Ball, also manufactured by StarMark Pet Products, is better suited for inside play.

While many StarMark (Triple Crown) products are currently available in local pet shops around the country, it'll be a few months before you'll see the Bob-A-Lot as widely spread for it was just released this Spring. Meanwhile there are other great interactive toy products available from this manufacturer. These include the Everlasting Treat Ball, Everlasting Fireplug, Everlasting Beanie Ball which features knobs for dental health and the Everlasting Fun Ball. All of these products can be filled with kibble or treats.

The Bob-A-Lot is available from most online retailers for a reasonable $21.99, plus shipping. The price tag as a result of damage by a bored or anxious dog can be far higher.

I have the Bob-A-Lot for my 2 Doodles. They love playing with it to get the treats, but if I leave it down instead of putting it away they tend to chew up the top .... it is full of teeth marks. I love interactive treat/food toys.
