Nutro Pet Foods, a subsidiary of M&M Mars, has announced a voluntary recall of three SKU's of its dry puppy foods. The reason for the recall is potential contamination with melted plastic. As of right now, the foods involved were only sold at Petco and Petsmart.
- Nutro Natural Choice Chicken, Rice & Oatmeal Puppy 5# bags sold at Petsmart and Petco
- Nutro Ultra Puppy 4.5# bag sold at Petsmart and Petco
- Nutro Ultra Puppy 30# bag sold at Petco
All of the foods have a specific Best by date of 09/10/10. According to a Nutro representative named EdnaAtNutro on Twitter, during a maintenance shutdown, a hard hat inadvertently made its way into the processing equipment. No illnesses or fatalities have been reported. If you have purchased any of the affected products, Nutro has instructed that they be returned to the retailer where it was purchased. As with any recall, if you feel this product has made your pet ill be sure to save a gallon sized ziploc bag of food for independent testing. I will post updates on this recall as I receive them.

Can you get dog ok you thank you.
Good that you reported this, but it's no surprise they had a recall. Read about what's on pet food in the Phoenix Pet Welfare Examiner article "Do you know what's in Fluffy's food?"
Plus...M&M's does testing with rats and paint...it's really disgusting and so unnecessary.
Got something to say?
