Animals)
While you're running around this week getting your Halloween costume together (and in some cases, your pet's costume, too) you may be interested to know that October 25 to 31 is World GO VEGAN Week.
"We encourage people to use this week to educate their community about the vegan lifestyle as a compassionate, sustainable, and healthy way of eating and living," states In Defense of Animals (IDA), an animal rights and welfare organization.
What is a vegan?
"A vegan is someone who chooses not to eat any food that comes from animals (i.e., meat, dairy and eggs)," states the IDA.
Woody Harrelson is vegan.
“I chose to be vegan initially as an energetic pursuit, as meat and dairy slowed me down, but have since become convinced that it is not only the most healthy way to live, but also the most compassionate and ecologically responsible way.”

I don't get the connection to pets though?
I'm not a vegan, but I also don't believe in eating pets. Is that the connection?
It's more along the lines of all animals, which would include pets.

There is a connection to pets! I am a vegetarian of 11 years, and I do NOT see how someone can love ONE animal (dog, cat, etc), then kill and eat the flesh of ANOTHER animal. Then there are those animals who are both, like bunny rabbits, they are also food to many.
Are pigs, cows, and chickens not worthy to live? Yet dogs are?
Why are there humane laws for dogs, but very litter protection for animals suffering in the cruel conditions on factory farms, like veal calves?
If you are offended at people that eat dogs (such in Korea, China, and other parts of the world where they're raised as livestock) then you are a hypocrite. People in India may be just as "offended" that people in the states eat cows.
I'm not a supporter of PETA, and it's anyones right to choose, but I DO see a connection to pets, it has to do with a love and respect for animals regardless of species.
