Shopping online to help shelter pets with BringPetsHome.org

Imagine shopping at Macy's or Sephora and knowing that a percentage of whatever you spend will be donated to help care for animals in shelters. Call it guilt-free shopping, brought to you by BringPetsHome.org.

"We’re hoping that everyone who cares about the health and safety of pets will take one, easy extra step and begin their online shopping by visiting bringpetshome.org," Linda Block, marketing director at Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health, tells Pet News Examiner. "They can access top retailers and enjoy the same discounts and sales while generating a donation to animal shelters.”

From Amazon to Walmart, BringPetsHome.org, a non-profit animal charity, has partnered with more than 140 major retailers in order to raise money for shelter animals. The organization, which is funded entirely by corporate donations from Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health, donates 100% of the money it raises to animal shelters.

"Every year, 6 to 8 million animals enter U. S. shelters – many are lost pets," BringPetsHome.org says in a statement. "All need food, shelter, and medical care, so that they have the chance to be reunited with their original owners or placed in caring, permanent homes. Shelters never have enough money, though. They rely on grants or donations from individuals or animal charities. Millions of pets are euthanized every year, because shelters do not have the resources to house and care for them humanely until they are adopted."
