What's the hot trend for pets this upcoming season?
"Purple," says Chad Conway, who owns Canine Styles pet boutiques in New York City. "I just got back from Paris and everything is purple -- specifically deeper plums and lavender. You'll be seeing it on everything from leashes and collars to sweaters and jackets."
At its booth at Pet Fashion Week, which took place August 22 and 23 in New York City, Canine Styles displayed its bestselling plaid horse blanket coat for dogs in its new spring color: a lavender shade with deeper-hued accents.
At the Barking Zoo's booth, store owner Alan Kraus, showed off their classic cable knit sweater for dogs in the newest shade -- a deep purple, of course.
More than 1,000 makers of pet clothing, toys, accessories, treats, and furniture participated in this year's Pet Fashion Week in New York City, showing off the newest trends in the pet industry.
New for spring at Simply Fido, an organic pet toy manufacturer, will be the introduction of a "stuffingless" doggie chew toy.
Mario diFante, who organizes Pet Fashion Week, agrees that bright colors are "in" this season. "It's all about vibrant colors to cheer people up and make them happy," says diFante.

Hey Helena! Nice story! Jilli Dog and I were there on Saturday, sorry we missed you! They did a 25-30 min taping of Jilli doing her tricks and an interview afterwards! Great fun! I enjoy this event, and hope that it gets better with an improving economy... best regards, Rick and Jilli Dog
