Coming soon to a theater near you: the story of Nubs, a stray dog with shorn ears who befriended Maj. Brian Dennis while Dennis was serving in Iraq. When Nubs trekked 75 miles through the freezing Iraqi desert to follow Dennis to the next camp, Dennis knew the dog was special.

Their story became a media sensation when Dennis raised $5,000 to fly Nubs to San Diego, Calif. after he was told by his superiors to get rid of the dog from the American military camp in Iraq. Dennis and Nubs have appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show, the Today Show and the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.

Dennis was approached by many people to write a book about his experience with Nubs, but the Major decided to write a children's book with co-authors Kirby Larson and Mary Nethery.

Now, Warner Bros. will be making a movie about the story with writer/producer Justin Zackham who wrote "The Bucket List." "It's a story that parents can take their kids to but that adults can also go to and appreciate," Zackham told the Hollywood Reporter. "It's one of those movies that everyone can take something from."

Read the details of Nubs' story and an interview with Maj. Brian Dennis at AOL's Paw Nation.
