Talk about an engine that purrs!
The New York Police Department yesterday released a photograph of the cat who got stuck in a car's engine and miraculously survived a two-mile drive.
The stray cat had apparently crawled into the engine of a 2005 Nissan Murano, according to local NBC News,
The car's owner, Wilfredo Rodriguez, drove the car for two miles and noticed a rattling sound while he was driving, reports NBC News. Stopping the car to check the engine, Rodriguez saw a cat's tail and paw sticking out from under the hood.
"I said, 'Oh my God! I killed a cat,'" Rodriguez told NBC News.
Not quite. The cat was alive. It was extricated from the car's engine and handed over to the city's Animal Care & Control.

I hope that someone adopted this beautiful baby. Please do a follow up story if you find out that is true. He looks so much like one of my own rescues. That poor soul.
