Branching out from cuddly kitties and playful pups, Animal Planet explores the supernatural in an eerie new series called The Haunted. "Animals are commonly believed to be more sensitive to spirits than humans and have often been the subjects of the most intense paranormal hauntings." So begins the introduction to The Haunted, which tells true life tales of people and their pets subjected to paranormal activity.

In the premiere episode, the owner of a computer company in Pennsylvania decides to buy a building that was once used as an insane asylum and animal testing facility. In the basement are isolation cells, steel cages, vials and beakers. Hidden it the corners are dog bones and clumps of dog hair.

Not long after moving into the building, the employees start experiencing strange activity -- the security alarm is repeatedly activated by unseen forces, the owner's sedentary cat suddenly gets spooked and employees start to feel depressed and angry for no apparent reason.

"We heard rumors that the building was haunted, but I was a total skeptic," says the company owner. "I grew up in a strictly Catholic family. We don’t believe in ghosts." After seeing a 10' foot tall, smoky black figure darting across a dark hallway, the owner decides to call in the Pennsylvania Paranormal Association. What they find and record on special equipment that captures voices from the spirit world will give you chills.

The Haunted airs Sunday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Animal Planet from November 22 to December 20, and at 8 p.m. ET/PT from January 3 to 31.
