PETA urges Ben and Jerry's to Use Human Breast Milk for Ice Cream

Some things just make you go "ick!"

PETA sent a letter to Ben and Jerry 's this week, asking them to replace the cow's milk in their products with human breast milk instead.

Yep, it's true.

This obviously is a stunt, since a more reasonable request would have been simply to ask them to switch to soy milk, which is available in non-fat, vanilla, and chocolate. Yummy.

Of course, the thought of putting human breast milk into our dairy products is, well, disgusting. How do we get this breast milk? Are women going to volunteer to produce, eat proper diets, and refuse medication to insure that their milk is not tainted. The idea is ludicrous and is just meant to get us thinking about the fact that we drink milk from cows.

While I don't partake of cow's milk or eat meat, I am also a realist about how to help improve the lives of farm animals. We have been drinking cow's milk for centuries, so dietary habits aren't going to change because someone thinks they should. No, dietary habits change when reasonable alternatives are offered. And the presence of soy milk  in mainstream grocery stores indicates it's possible to change people's dietary habits.

Overall though, this action does not help animals in any meaningful way. Thankfully, there are humane groups out there that work on behalf of farm animals by trying to change practices on the farm so that animals can begin to lead more humane lives now.

Peta is so worried about animals that now they don't even care about humans. I have never in my life seen a group of people so disgusting that they want to drink milk from other humans breast!!!!!! Although I think its Gods desire for us to feed our babies I seriously doubt if his intent was for us to start making products out of it. I think peta needs to do some research and maybe they would realize that milking cows actually helps the cows. Without milking them it can cause them to get sick and eventually die. I mean seriously what are you all going to try to do next.

Soy milk is thought of as this great panacea, but it really isn't so perfect. Soy is not recommended to people with thyroid problems (and some other health problems too). And lots of people have thyroid problems.

Forget ice cream. I personally volunteer to impregnate Pamela Anderson and every other PETA celebrity and drink directly from the source.

How is it "so disgusting" to drink other people's breast milk but not disgusting to drink milk from an animal that's not even of your own species? Not only is the animal of a different species, but a species that you obviously feel is so below your own that it is slaughtered w/o regulation...? Makes ZERO sense!
I would think it would be more disgusting to drink milk from a species that lives in unsafe and unhealthy conditions than one (humans) that is the most nicely treated in the world.

And milking does not HELP a cow. The milk is meant to be consumed by its calves. So yeah, I guess someone has to get the milk out since the baby cow has been butchered and is unable to. The cow wouldn't need help emptying its udder if it was left to the natural process of feeding offspring of its own species.

    cmon this isn't serious?
ben&jerry's uses cows as their logo,
and when they will use human breast milk they will have to replace the cows for naked women or something
