Angel, left, could be the Obama's new pet/Channel 11, Fort Worth
A chocolate labradoodle from a Houston, Texas, shelter could be the incoming 'first dog' for President-elect Barack Obama's family.
Earlier this month, Obama said his family is considering either a labradoodle or a Portugese Water Dog.
KTVT CBS 11 news in Fort Worth reported Thursday that a Houston shelter faxed a picture of a chocolate labradoodle, Angel, to a representative looking for dogs for the Obamas.
Krista Glover of Keller told Channel 11 that her family was also shopping for a labradoodle.
She said they found two labradoodles at a Houston shelter, but were directed to a black one, Cleo.
The reason? The shelter had faxed a picture of Angel to a representative looking for labradoodles for the Obamas.
"I thought that was exciting, especially for the shelter," Glover told Channel 11.
Glover also said her family would be pleased if the Obamas pick Cleo's sister.
That way, the family pet would figuratively have a paw in the White House.
During a recent interview on ABC with This Week host George Stephanopoulos, Obama said his family was checking shelters to see if any of the two breed "finalists" were available.
Part of Obama's victory speech included a promise of a dog for his daughters, Malia and Sasha.
