Hershey memorial

Hershey and his loving owner

After many years of living the charmed life with his caring owner, Hershey was sent to the next plane of his existence. Hershey was adopted as young adult from a labrador rescue and lived many happy, healthy years with two canine and many human companions in his owner’s loving household.
In his senior years, Hershey suffered from what initially appeared to be allergic skin disease, yet all of his dermatologic abnormalities resolved when he had a 5 pound retained testicular tumor excised from his abdomen. This finding was surprising, considering Hershey was reported to be a neutered male at the time of his adoption. Post-surgery, Hershey quickly returned to his former health. Hershey had many joyful months before Bile Duct Carcinoma caused a decline in health that ultimately lead to the terminus of Hershey’s life. Hershey’s owner provided him an exceptional quality of life, both through sickness and health, up to the very end and is truly a model for compassionate companion animal care.
Hershey may have left this life, but he made a big impression on my heart. I feel fortunate that I was granted the opportunity to treat him as a patient. Hershey’s presence is greatly missed but his spirit will never be forgotten.
