As I pulled into the local Home Depot I noticed a rather large yellow lab, happily panting and wagging his whole rear-end. I thought to myself that this was how dogs used to be spoiled, by getting to ride in the back of their owner’s pickup truck. In today’s world, most people consider this far too dangerous for pets to ride in a truck bed or even to be left outside with no supervision. They would be right too. Today’s pet owners spoil their pet by letting them ride in their very own custom pet seat with their very own doggy seat belt, or in crates with soft bedding.
Today’s pets get to have their very own home-made dog treats from pet bakeries. Like Barker Street Bakery in The Woodlands. This unique bakery takes dog health to a completely new level they make a variety of treats for dogs and cats that are not only scrum-diddily-uptious, but customized for your pet’s special diets. Owner’s Jay Kirsch and Frank Ciacccio opened the store on Sawdust back in 2006 and has since become a huge success. They make their delectable goodies in wheat-free, corn free, and grain free. Also available are treats made with rice flour, rye flour, oat flour, and even garbanzo flour. They also use human grade ingredients and add no preservatives to the treats and cakes. All treats are 100% natural and besides being dog health conscious, the guy’s care about the environment too. They have made the store as “green” as possible by using 50% post consumer recycled packaging products and give a 10% discount to customers who have their empty boxes refilled. The store also features a unique-boutique retail area that has pet items that have been made from recycled material as well. They sell art from local pet artist and have local iron crafters design elegant beds for pets.
Other bakeries around the area are Woof Pet Bakery in Spring, and Gawt Treats Bakery and Boutique, also in Spring, they too, offer delicious treats for your pet and have the same passion for pets. I highly recommend you take your dog in for a special treat. Dog cakes are also becoming exceedingly popular and all of the stores mentioned, design custom cakes for your best friend, your pet.
When you have to leave out of town, you will want the best care for your best friend and where better to take them than Best Friends Pet Resort and Spa located in Spring. They know how to pamper a dog like no bodies business. Offering custom mural painted luxury suites complete with TV’s and automatic water bowls. For a wee-bit more you pet can be read a bedtime story go on a shopping spree with their own credit line and attend doggy day camp. During Thanksgiving, they even prepare a special meal of roasted turkey for the dogs. During the hot summer, months you’ll want to have your pet given a Tasty Pop frozen ice-cream treat of a frozen peanut butter filled Kong to cool off and keep them busy. Of course, no visit to a resort is complete without a trip to the spa and Best Friends has the most state of the art salon that I have seen in the area.
If you own a water loving dog then Prestonwood Kennels in Houston is your pet’s ultimate destination. They offer a tropical wading pool for your pet to play in as well as many other luxurious amenities. However if you just can’t bear the thought of your baby in a cage then check out Almost Home Pet Sitting in Conroe, they offer a no cage environment with a home atmosphere complete with sofa’s and crackling fireplace. They also offer cage free cat boarding. Larger dogs get a bedroom type of room with a doggy door and smaller dogs, get run of the house.
A day at the spa is what so many pets adore. The Divine Canine, has taken it a step further and brings the spa to your pet. They set up an entire salon right in your home where you are allowed to watch as your pet get’s styled and pampered by their groomer. Pets enjoy a relaxing in-tub massage with a bubbly aromatic seltzer while being cleaned and blueberry facial to complete their spa experience.
So many ways to spoil your pet, but the best way is to do it yourself with your time. After all that is why our dogs love us unconditionally whether we spoil them with life’s luxuries or just a good old game of fetch. My dog’s favorite time of the day is bed time when he gets to snuggle with mom under the blanket. He gets so excited for bed he spins, snorts, and runs to the bedroom and waits until I pick his all-too-roundness up and put him on the bed and get my goodnight kiss. Now he thinks he is spoiled.

Besides spoiling our pets it's important to help the more "green". One way to do that is bu using our Flushable and Biodegradable dog waste bags. Whether they're flushed or thrownin a waste bin, there a still a better alternative to what currently out on the market. Help spread the wor d about these great poopy bags!www.walkthedog.blogspot.com
