Michael Vick has been in the media lately with his new television reality show about his horrible time in prison for the conviction of dog fighting. His time was so horrible although, he emotionally and physical tortured poor helpless dogs and even ended up killing the non-performing ones. In his new television series he portrays how hard it was in prison and how he is sorry for creating a bad example and putting his fans through the turmoil. He seems to have forgotten that what he should really be sorry for is the torture he put the dogs through. He was sent to prison for that very thing, in which he seems so far from actually being sorry for in the first place. Money, fans, family and team mates seem to come before anything else in his life. Dogs are at the bottom unless it is in front of the camera.
Michael Vick went back to playing football. He was not allowed to play for the team in which he was with when he went to prison but he was signed to the Eagles. Mr. Vick can do one thing right in his life and that is to play football. He is good at that and has shown that many times, and as many other players he has his ups and downs with football. Now with his television debut it has brought a whole different aspect to his career. Playgirl magazine has offered Mr. Vick one million dollars for him to pose in the magazine but there is a catch. He has to donate it to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animlas (PETA). PETA is just like the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), trying to cash in on the dog fighting ordeal and to receive money for something they are not helping with. The HSUS received many donations to help out with the dogs taken from dogfighting, but they never give it to the shelter that actually ends up taking care of that dog. Did PETA? No.
If Michael Vick does actually agree to pose in Playgirl he should make sure the donation goes to Pit Bull Rescues throughout the United States and to the eight rescues that actually took in his dogs to get them adopted out. In his sentencing he had to pay restitution for the victims (the dogs) in the amount of $928,073. With this new possible donation should have a little go to the eight rescues as well as other Pit Bull Rescues. The eight rescues are as follows as well as how many of Mr. Vicks dogs they received:
- Best Friends Animal Society in Utah (22 of the dogs)
- BAD RAP rescue in Oatland, CA (10 of the dogs)
- Recycled Love in Baltimore (3 of the dogs)
- SPCA of Monterey County (3 of the dogs)
- Richmond Animal League in Virginia (4 of the dogs)
- SPCA of Georgia in Suwanee, GA (3 of the dogs)
- Animal Rescue of Tidewater in Chesapeake, VA (1 of the dogs)
- Our Pack, Inc in San Hose, CA (1 of the dogs)
This could be a Playgirl suicide. Who actually reads this magazine? Women, the very people that care a lot about animals and cannot stand the thought of someone hurting them. Women, people that have so much compassion for pets and in some cases put their pets on a pedestal. Now you have this convicted dog killer and dog fighter in the magazine to see him in his buff. There is nothing buff about a man that does this to dogs. There is nothing buff about a man that can take a dogs life and not feel bad about it. Women may be more incline to not buy during his appearance in the magazine as to show Playgirl magazine they made a mistake placing him there in the first place. We will just have to wait and see what happens next.

Thank you for bringing all of this out in the open and condensing it where it can be read, thought about and discussed. You're right --- and I never thought about it till now -- Some of these animals rights groups just seem to want to grab onto the money (honestly - how could you even be in the same room with Michael Vick knowing what he did - esp. if you work for an animal protection agency and you really walk the talk). But few groups have done anything positive for the Vick dogs. In fact, the Humane Society wanted to put down all of them without a discussion, but thankfully some SAINTS said "We'll give them a home and a chance." A few of those dogs have been rehabed and adopted and are living with their families now. Others are still being cared for and rehabilitated by those generous agencies. PETA did squat (maybe they threw paint on some model's coat and generated publicity ... but they didn't rehab single a fighting dog and try to place it in a good home).
And you asked who reads PLAYGIRL....ha ha ha .... I suspect it isn't women!!!
Thanks Pat for teh comments. I also believe it people not reading it is PETA as well. Come on, everyone wants to jump on teh Vick-bandwagon. It's over, it's all over!!!Just let the poor dogs reat in peace in their new homes and let that man be. It is bad enough he has a stupid reality show because of it. Just my opinion!
