A bonanza of huge film franchise news continues as word filters through the blogosphere that Tom Cruise has signed on for 'Mission Impossible 4.'
Film bloggers are burning up the wires with news that Paramount Pictures has sealed the deal with Tom Cruise to continue the "Mission Impossible" franchise. Cruise will return as Ethan Hunt in "MI4," which Paramount wants for a Memorial Day 2011 release.
Cruise is producing the film with the studio's hitmaker J.J. Abrams ("Star Trek," "Cloverfield"). A director remains to be announced, but writers Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are working on the script now.
Meanwhile, Cruise returns to action mode on July 2 with "Knight and Day," which co-stars Cameron Diaz and was directed by James Mangold ("Walk the Line").
