After earning serious ducats with "Paranormal Activity," Paramount Pictures has staked its claim on director Oren Peli's follow-up, "Area 51."
Peli became this year's industry golden boy after "PA" became the one of the most successful film releases ever. Yet, so top secret is the plot of his next effort, he will not mention the project's name in any interviews nor say he is even working on a film at the moment. Production reportedly just ended on the significantly higher budgeted genre film (an estimated $5 million) that allegedly follows the same "found footage" narrative of "PA."
Paramount has yet to announce its release plans for "Area 51," but bet on a 2010 date to sustain the momentum spawned by "PA."
