After the Disney and Marvel deal, questions abounded as to what would happen to the comic book titan's film projects already established around town. Home to 'X-Men' and 'Fantastic Four,' guess which Marvel hero 20th Century Fox has decided to revive? Yep, 'Daredevil.'
Deadline.com is reporting 20th Century Fox has put a new "Daredevil" film in motion. Writer David Scarpa, who penned the studio's remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still," has been assigned the project, which is being shepherded by New Regency. Set to produce the new "Daredevil" is former News Corp. president Peter Chernin.
Of course the obvious question is why bring "Daredevil" back, which despite starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, failed to kick-off a franchise for the studio in 2003? Basically, if Fox does not find new ways to use its Marvel Comics properties, the rights will revert to now Disney-based Marvel. Use it or lose it, apparently, can be a strong motivating force in Hollywood.
Will you want to see "Daredevil" in a new incarnation? Examiner readers, sound off now.
