Despite her infamous appearances on 'Oprah' and 'Good Morning America,' Bristol Palin fearlessly continues her 'Ambassador for Abstinence' media blitz. Up next, she will be make her acting debut by playing herself in an episode of ABC Family's hit series 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager.'
You have to hand it to Bristol Palin.
Despite being a lightning rod for criticism from both conservative and liberal pundits over her views on teen pregnancy and abstinence, she remains steadfast in keeping to the painfully scripted mesage of "sex can wait." Now, America's most visible teen mom is taking it all to the next level. She's going to be making her acting debut by playing herself on a show that has also been criticized for glorifying teen pregnancy.
ABC Family has announced that Ms. Palin will be featured on an upcoming episode of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." She will play a friend of lead character Amy (Shailene Woodley), who attends the same music program for teen mothers featured on the show.
“I am thrilled to be on this show and to be part of a program that educates teens and young adults about the consequences of teen pregnancy,” Ms. Palin said in a prepared statement reported by ABC News.
"We're thrilled to have [Bristol] join us," added "Secret Life" executive producer Brenda Hampton in a separate statement. "I think she will bring additional attention to the issues facing teen parents that we've been exploring for a couple seasons now."
With the awkward manner in which the Palin family continues to promote its family values agenda, will Ms. Palin's TV debut and message fall on deaf ears? Stay tuned.
"The Secret Life of the American Teenager" airs on ABC Family on Monday evenings, 8/7c.
