Director Christopher Nolan is turning into DC Comics & Warner Brothers' new power lad. Not only is he in the process of writing the next installment in his groundbreaking reboot of the 'Batman' franchise, he may become the reason why a new 'Superman' will be taking flight.
Deadline.com is boasting the exclusive that Warner Bros. is looking to kickstart its classic DC Comics property "Superman" anew. And the studio has called on its go-to superhero Christopher Nolan (pictured below) to "godfather" the project through development.
Nolan, whose reboot of the "Batman" franchise with "Batman Begins" and the mega-success "The Dark Knight," may be the right person to steer the "Man of Steel' back on track. It is probably too early to even guess-timate how involved Nolan will be with a new "Superman" feature, but the prospect is already sending ripples throughout the film blogosphere. The project would not be a continuation of the recent "Superman Returns" and it is not known if director Bryan Singer and star Brandon Routh are out of the picture should it come to that stage. (Singer, meanwhile, is busy with his return to the "X-Men" universe for Fox.)
As for any definite plans at Warners, Deadline featured this quote from a studio insider: "We know what we don't want to do. But we don't know what we want to do. We learned a lot from the last movie, and we want to get it right this time."
And fans could not agree more.
Meanwhile, the director-writer has apparently come up with an idea for a new "Batman" feature. Nolan, along with brother Jonah and David Goyer are in the process of putting pen to paper.
Nolan's next feature for Warner Bros., "Inception" with Leonardo DiCaprio, opens July 16.

Yeah, when I heard Goyer left FlashFoward, it comes as no surprise that one of the possible reasons why he left it was to focus on writing a script for the new batman film.
Personally I hope Mark Millar (Wanted) directs the new supes film.
