Let's begin this conversation with some reality that is not so easily spoken about in open crowds: Sex Sells. In Texas, there is a common phrase that "Everything is Bigger" and it is this phrase that captures the sex industry in Houston. The poll I articled over a week ago will shed some light on what habits consume our money. There are various ways to spend your money on sex in Houston: Adult Video Stores, Illegal Prostitution Houses (disguised as massage parlors), or Adult Entertainment Clubs.
Honestly we all have something we spend a little too much money on, so this is far from an attempt to judge those that spend their cash on sex. This is more of an opportunity to see what is out there and draw attention to the industry that may be enabling you to not reach your financial potential.
Based on research reported by those that frequent the legal strip clubs, the average costs per night can range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars depending on your indulgence and credit card balance. Surprised? I was too when I found out that many clients use their credit cards at these establishments for pricey cash advances. A big No No in my financial book!
There are over 50 such clubs in the Houston Area (speculation by HPD and others that there may be over 300 brothels) and if you are a habitual patron of these then you probably should know Houston has been on a legal war path since January. Some clubs have even been closed completely pending further investigation.
The Adult Video Stores and Illegal Brothels can be left for your own investigation, but for now know that this habit is one of the most costly to keep up. Sex has the addictive euphoria of Nicotine and can be twice as deleterious to your overall wealth creation if habitual. Also please consider that going to jail for illegal prostitution can also put a ding in your wallet too! Take care and SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!!!
