The Coastal Repertory Theatre pays tribute to Pete Townshend by staging The Who’s Tommy July 24 through August 22.
The homage to the 40th Anniversary of the rock opera is directed by Artistic and Educational Director, Michael Lederman. Ken Crowell and Colin Price team together as Musical Directors. Amy Cowan and Brian Thorsett are Vocal Directors. Kimberly Krohl is Choreographer. Lederman’s vision to set the show during the 1970’s and 1980’s, at the height of the albums popularity, along with strong visual imagery provided by Richard Robertson, set the tone for over 50 actors, singers, dancers who will perform.
The show’s music and lyrics are by Townshend with book by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff.
The story follows young boy's journey from tragedy to triumph turns one of rock's timeless albums into an unforgettable musical and is filled with hit songs like "Pinball Wizard," "See Me, Feel Me," "I'm Free," and many more. This classic ’60s rock opera by The Who was translated to the stage by theatrical mastermind McAnuff into a high-energy, one-of-a-kind theatrical experience that has become an international smash hit.
