We’ve all avoided them; they’re terrifying, soul crushing. But this one sounds like fun---maybe because for those of us who go, it won’t be real. What am I talking about? A high school reunion of course. What else?
This high school reunion is a comedy, a play. You get to sit in the audience and watch other people squirm and suffer. Maybe they even get a little pay-back. “The Next Reunion” by Larry McKenna opened at Society Hill Playhouse on May 13, 2010 and will run through June 20.
When Jake and Craig go to the 10-year reunion for their high school class, no one remembers them. They team up with Betsy, another forgotten classmate. The three ditch their reunion and find two more reunions in the vicinity to crash. Armed with fake identities, they weave webs of deception that will ensnare them in hilarious ways. “The Next Reunion” comes with an extra treat. Before the show and at intermission, you ‘mingle’ with your ‘classmates’ and indulge in a grand game of exaggeration and fantasy—sounds like a real reunion. Prizes will be awarded for things like “furthest distance traveled” and “best lie about what you are doing now”. My imagination is racing already---improv fun and a comedy to watch.
