The Brick Theater and Art Meets Commerce present FIGHT FEST December 1 - 20, 2009 at The Brick Theater. This is the first annual theater festival dedicated to showcasing fight choreography. Here is included a snapshot of the stylings of what the festival has to offer. This backstage tour of the festival includes interviews with The Brick co-founder, Michael Gardner, and with Cat Fight Productions co-founders and co-creators of Power Burn 3 at the festival, Alana McNair and Kate Wilkinson.
The festival is curated by Timothy Haskell, Abby Marcus and Qui Nguyen of Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company, and The Brick staff. According to The Brick: "Stage combat is one of the unsung arts of the theater. While martial arts have taken the film world by storm in recent years, stage fight direction remains less celebrated. The Brick Theater Inc. will continue the “fight” to change that with FIGHT FEST—a three week theater festival of fight choreography."
