Ballet Mexicano de Lupita
Georgia is one of the most diverse states in the country. One of the fastest growing communities is the Mexican community. One of the multi-cultural gifts is their Spanish influenced dance.
As part of a celebration for Mother's Day in 1993, Father Noberto Mateos a priest at St. Michael Catholic Church thought it would be a wonderful idea to bring the Mexican tradition of folk dance in honor of Mother's Day to St. Michael. Father Noberto is from
under and director of Ballet Mexicano Lupita, and requested that she teach some of the members of St. Michael a traditional dance. Ms. Sosa has always had a passion of the traditional dance, also known as folkloric ballet. She thought it an honor, and accepted the task. There was no problem finding members to learn and perfect two dances. The day of the performance, was the beginning of Ballet Mexicano de Lupita. News of the talented dancers traveled fast. The troupe began performing for various churches and has become popular talent for the Mexican Consulate of Atlanta, and many organizations.
