Aerialist arrested after performing over Williamsburg Bridge

"What's that up there?"

"It's a bird!"

"It's a plane!"

Nope.  It's aerialist Seanna Sharpe performing above the Williamsburg Bridge, approximately 300 feet above traffic.  Sharpe was arrested on Monday for the stunt (more specifically trespassing, reckless endangerment, and obstructing government administration), but not before putting on one heck of a show!

Sharpe and her accomplice, fellow artist Savage Skinner, scaled the bridge around 7pm Monday to rig a 90 foot aerial silk, and then perform for a crowd of nearly 100 onlookers.  It took approximately 7 minutes to scale the bridge tower, and the actual performance lasted about 15 minutes before Sharpe and Skinner were taken into police custody.

For more information about Sharpe's Williamsburg bridge stunt, check out the article on the Wall Street Journal's Metropolis Blog.  Good images of the performance can be found on the Several seconds and the bitchcakesny Flickr pages.
