Penn's wrestling squad went 2-1 at the Northeast Duals on Saturday defeating Sacred Heart and Appalachian State before dropping a 19-12 decision to Michigan in Troy, New York.
Penn defeated Sacred Heart 46-9 and Appalachian State 22-12.
Against Sacred Heart the Quakers won three matches by fall. Bryan Ortenzio (133), Gabriel Burak (165) and Scott Giffin (174) all won by fall. The Quakers won four matches by forfeit. Micah Burak (197) won by major decision.
In the dual against Appalachian State Penn scored all of its points by decision. Mark Rappo (125) won by major decision, while Zack Kemmerer (141), Troy Hernandez (149), G. Burak (165), Giffin (174), Harrison Cook (184), and M. Burak (197) all won by regular decision.
The dual against Michigan saw the Big Ten Wolverines win the last three matches to record the win over the Quakers. Rappo, Kemmerer, G. Burak, and Giffin recorded wins. G. Burak upset nineteenth-ranked Aaron Hynes 7-4 in the loss.
Penn next wrestles on Sunday December 6th when it travels to State College to participate in the Penn State Open.
