Chris Kunitz
Talks about how he scored is first goal of the playoffs:
“Our goal was a couple of good shifts back to back. Geno was on the ice and I think he changed with Staal, but he had a good 35 seconds in their zone putting the puck in and getting shots on net. We had worked the puck out of the corner and I just kind of took it to the net and there was an open lane. I just put it on net and it found it’s way in.”
Talks about finally getting his first goal of the playoffs:
“It definitely feels good, but we are a close group in the locker room and nobody really cares whose scoring the goals. It’s more about the wins. Personally, it felt good to get it done already, but we’ve been having a lot of guys score goals that maybe aren’t expected to and stepping up, so it has been a good team effort the whole time.”
Sidney Crosby
Talks about how Malkin stepped up after being challenged physically by the Hurricanes:
“He stepped up tonight and every time he was out there, he’s making something happen. It wasn’t always the same way, whether it was off the rush or going to the net. We want to have everyone going, but when he’s playing like that, it’s hard not to follow.”
Talks about Malkin not responding physically, but proving it on the ice and at the net:
“There are times when it might frustrate you and you can’t let it show. Especially in the playoffs, it’s going to be tighter and guys are going to try to do that, but if you are going to respond that way, guys are going to think twice about doing that. That’s the best way to do it and he proved that.”
Talks about Malkin’s third goal that gave the Penguins a 6-4 lead:
“For that third goal by Geno, it’s not something that we don’t do in practice. It something that we work on, work on wrapping the puck around, work on plays coming out of the corner like that. But it’s rare, number one, that you are able to do it and give yourself enough space to do it. Number two, score on it and put it up top shelf like that. He executed it perfectly and it was a big goal for us.”
Evgeni Malkin
Talks about his big game (3 goals, 1 assist):
“Maybe its just one game. I am trying to play every game hard and smart. I try better every game.”
Talks about going up 2-0 at home and going to Carolina:
“We play home and the fans just help the game. I enjoy playing at Mellon Arena and it’s good for the team because we are not nervous now. We enjoyed playing again and we will try to win the next game.”
Max Talbot
Talks about going to Carolina for game three:
“It is huge. Carolina is a tough building to play in. They use a lot of their crowd for momentum. It’s a tough building and they are a tough team to play against.”
Craig Adams
Talks about taking a 2-0 lead into Carolina for game three:
“It’s obviously the best possible result for us going down there. They’re a very dangerous team and play great at home, so I think we feel a lot better going down there up 2-0 than tied 1-1 for sure. They’ve got great fans and they’re a team that’s gonna fight you till the very end.”
