The dreaded 'brood mother' dragon Onyxia will be getting a major revamp in the next World of Warcraft update (3.2.2), in honor of World of Warcraft's 5-year anniversary.
The 3.2.2 update to Onyxia will convert the dungeon into a normal 10-player mode and a Heroic 25-player model. In addition, Onyxia's 'loot table' will have the same model as some of the classic loot from this dungeon, such as Tier 2 helms, with stats updated to match the current level of content.
A new item will also become available -- a normal drake-sized 310% speed flying mount, which will be modeled after Onyxia herself and called an Onyxia Broodling. (You know you want one!)
As part of Onyxia's update, Blizzard will also be updating the encounter mechanics to be "more fitting for modern raiding". (In other words, Onyxia will have a whole new can of whoop-ass for everyone that has been adapted to current smarty-pants raiders.)
For a limited time -- after the 5-year anniversary event officially begins in November -- anybody who logs in will receive an Onyxia Brood Whelpling pet.
Public Test Realms will soon make the new and improved Onyxia available to help test out this fight along -- with all the new content planned for the 3.2.2 patch.

This is so AWESOME! I can't wait for it!
wtb more new content as opposed to revamped old content, i.e. naxx and ony. pretty soon we'll be doing 5-man ZG and 10-man MC. i just salivate at the opportunity to do that /sarcasm off. *idea* if they want people to actually experience the old content, they shouldn't outdate it so much that the lewt is absolute crap. even for a lvl 60 20-man raid like onyxia, you could replace almost anything she dropped by mid-60's, which only takes a few days. does anyone who ever did onyxia before in vanilla wow *actually* want to do it again ? probably not.
Got something to say?
